Zatwardziałość serca

Zatwardziałym przez ciało, czy rozmiękczonym przez Ducha. Miękkie serce podpowiada: Tylko pokornych i uniżonych, poddanych i uległych Bogu w Chrystusie Jezusie, Bóg wprowadza do Swego Królestwa. Ani jedna jota, ani jedna litera nie przeminie z zakonu, powiedział Pan Jezus.

I rzekłem do ich synów na pustyni: Nie postępujcie według przykazań waszych ojców i nie przestrzegajcie ich praw i nie kalajcie się ich bałwanami!

Ja Pan, jestem waszym Bogiem. Postępujcie według moich przykazań i przestrzegajcie moich praw i wykonujcie je! Święćcie moje sabaty i niech będą znakiem między mną a wami, aby wiedziano, że ja Pan jestem waszym Bogiem!

Między tekstem, coś co mu pozwoli, aby jego ciało mogło dostać to, co chce. Ludzie tak szukali między słowami Jezusa coś, co by pozwoliło im pójść za ciałem. Tak też w głoszeniu Pawła, szukali gdzie by było powiedziane jakieś słowo, które pozwoliłoby im „zachować” prawo Boże a zarazem pójść za swoim ciałem. I co taki człowiek usłyszy? „Idź, zrozumiałeś to co chciałeś, idź”. I człowiek pójdzie.

Wielu ludzi przyjęło zwiastowanie apostoła Pawła, że skoro mówi on o łasce, to znaczy grzeszmy jeszcze więcej, niech się więcej łaski okaże. Dlaczego doszli oni do takiego mniemania na podstawie słów Pawła? Dlatego, że oni sercem odwróceni byli do Boga plecami, a twarzą do grzechu. I kiedy usłyszeli: „łaska”, to pomyśleli, że można bezpiecznie będzie teraz grzeszyć, rozumiecie? A nie zrozumieli, że łaska prowadzi do pokuty, o nie, tego nie za bardzo gotowi byli uznać. Ale, że łaska pozwala im grzeszyć, to tak. [u9] Podobało im się to, że apostoł Paweł to powiedział, gdyż oni sami to sobie zinterpretowali.[u10] To właśnie o nich apostoł Piotr napisał:[u11]  „ludzie nie chcący się nauczyć”, zatwardzialcy, wykorzystali Słowo Boże do niecnych celów, na własną zgubę, a Bóg je dał do uświęcenia, aby żyli a nie umarli na wieki[u12] . Każde Słowo Boże, kiedy przychodzi [u13] do nas poprzez Bożego Syna Jezusa Chrystusa i mówi nam [u14] o miłości Boga, prowadzi[u15]  nas do pokuty i odwrócenia się od złych uczynków. A jeśli będziemy chcieli być w chrześcijaństwie i nie będziemy chcieli tego zrobić, pewnego dnia zaczniemy robić zupełnie coś innego.[u16]  Będziemy wykonywać inne prawa, prawa, które nie darzą życiem.

Otwórzmy Księgę Malachiasza 2, 13-16 i zobaczycie, że będziecie może głęboko poruszeni tym, co teraz przeczytamy:

„A oto druga rzecz, którą czynicie: Zraszacie ołtarz Pana wśród płaczu i westchnień. Lecz On nie może już patrzeć na ofiarę, ani jej przyjąć łaskawie z waszych rąk. A wy mówicie, dlaczego?

Dlatego, że Pan jest świadkiem między tobą i między żoną twojej młodości, której stałeś się niewierny, chociaż ona była twoją towarzyszką i żoną, związaną z tobą przymierzem. Czy nie Jeden (Bóg) uczynił ją istotą z ciała i ducha? A czego pragnie ten Jeden? Potomstwa Bożego. Pilnujcie się więc w waszym duchu i niech nikt nie będzie niewierny żonie swej młodości! Gdyż kto jej nienawidzi i oddala ją – mówi Pan, Bóg Izraela – plami swoją szatę występkiem – mówi Pan Zastępów.”

Plami swoją szatę występkiem! Rozumiecie? Tak mówi Bóg. Czy On się zmienia? Jeśli zostało dane inne prawo, to tylko tym, którzy mają twarde serce, niechętne do Boga – „chcesz, to sobie to czyń, ale to nie da ci życia”. To dlaczego Mojżesz pozwolił odprawiać żony, skoro Bóg powiedział, że będą kalać swoje szaty, jeśli je odprawią? Oni już byli skalani w sercu swoim, to też dostali prawo, które nie daje życia.[u17]  Rozumiecie to? Czytając Stary Testament pamiętajcie o tym, że tam są zapisane pewne prawa, które nie darzą życiem i one przyszły od Boga, ale dzieci Boże nie mają dla nich serca. Czy wiesz, które to są? Żeby wiedzieć, które to są trzeba znać Boga, tak? Nie myśleć cieleśnie: ach, napisane, to mogę to robić, tylko znać Boga i wiedzieć, że cała Biblia pokazuje nam rzeczywistość Boga i ludzi, którzy byli z Bogiem lub przeciwko Bogu. I ona jest lekcją [u18] dla mnie i dla ciebie, żebyśmy przypadkiem nie pobłądzili.

Będę czytał wam o pewnych innych prawach, które zostały zapisane w Księgach Mojżeszowych, ale Bóg kiedy dawał to prawo, w Jego sercu nie było szczęścia. To plamienie swej szaty występkiem, to jest takie hebrajskie słowo „hamas”, to jest gwałt, nieprawość, łupiestwo, bezprawie, drapiestwo, krzywda, okrutność, fałsz – tym plami swoją szatę ten, który odprawia swoją żonę. A więc widzicie, że Bogu nigdy się to nie podobało. Nigdy. Nie wierzcie w to, że Bóg zmienił się i teraz już zgadza się na takie coś. Jeśli Pan powiedział: „z wyjątkiem”, to wcale nie powiedział: „grzesznicy cieszcie się, jednak macie tę furtkę, abyście mogli bezpiecznie zaspokajać swoje pożądliwości”. Wcale nie. Wyjątek dla zatwardziałego serca znaczy możliwość wzięcia sobie następnej, lecz…Czy tak jest? Wyjątek dzisiaj dla ludzi oznacza, że możliwe jest wziąć sobie następną żonę, następnego męża, ale Jezus wcale o tym nie mówił. W ogóle nie było żadnej mowy o jakimś powtórnym związku, była tylko mowa o odprawieniu. Po co nadinterpretacja? Bo serce tego potrzebuje, pożądliwe stare serce potrzebuje, usłyszeć to co chce. Może spojrzymy na chwilę na drugą Księgę Samuela, trzeci rozdział, od dwunastego wiersza. Spójrzcie na człowieka według serca Bożego, na Dawida, zwróćcie uwagę na to, co on czyni, wtedy zobaczycie jeszcze bardziej Boga.

O co chodzi Dawidowi? Przecież on ma oprócz tej kobiety jeszcze inne za żony. Po co mu ta kobieta? Ona jest tam z innym mężczyzną, który później, kiedy ona jest mu odbierana, idzie płacząc za nią. O co chodziło Dawidowi? On był według serca Bożego, to była jego żona, a żona ma dzielić łoże ze swoim mężem. Tak? Chociaż Michal cudzołoży, on sprowadza ją z powrotem i przyprowadza ją do swego domu, tak? Jak ma się wyjątek do serca Bożego? A kiedy czytamy o Izraelu i o Judzie, kiedy Bóg mówi do nich jako Swojej małżonki: „Cudzołożnico wróć, Ja nie odrzucę cię, gdy przyjdziesz do Mnie, przyznaj się tylko do winy, a przyjmę cię, oczyszczę cię i będziemy mieli ze sobą jeszcze piękną społeczność”. Kto ofiaruje dziękczynienie, czci mnie, a temu, kto nienagannie postępuje, ukażę zbawienie Boże.”

Jeśli ja jestem w prawie Bożym z serca miłującego Go, to Bóg mi dalej pokaże jak mam iść, tak? Ale jeśli zatwardzam serce i jestem niechętny do Jego przykazań, to co powie mi Bóg? Idź tam, gdzie chcesz, ale się strzeż, bo to jest droga śmierci, nie życia. „Stawiam przed wami życie i śmierć, wybierzcie, gdzie chcecie iść”. I to jest to, co jest odpowiedzialnością moją i twoją. Wybierz, gdzie chcesz iść. Tak jak stanął Eliasz: nie kolebcie się już na dwie strony, zdecydujcie za kim pójdziecie: za Bogiem, czy za Baalem. Kto za Bogiem? Ten, za Tym, który daje prawo,[u20]  w którym jest czystość, świętość, miłość, nienaganność. Czy ten, który daje wam prawo, dozwala, że możecie grzeszyć, złorzeczyć, kłamać, oszukiwać, zadawać się z cudzołożnikami? Za kim chcecie iść? – mówi Bóg. Jeśli chcecie iść za Mną, to oczyśćcie się od wszystkiego, a jeśli chcecie za ciałem, to róbcie sobie co chcecie. Czy znasz tego Boga, który nie musi za tobą biegać, kiedy ty idziesz środkiem ulicy i chcesz się zabić? I ktoś może powiedzieć: gdzie był Bóg? Gdzie był człowiek, kiedy Bóg mówił, aby słuchał?

A więc co z tego, że człowiek wylicza i wylicza przykazania Boże, skoro nie chce nimi żyć? Tu napisane tak, a tam napisane tak, ale czy chcemy tak żyć, czy miłe są nam rozkazy Pańskie? Otwórzmy piątą Księgę Mojżeszową, piąty rozdział, od 32 wiersza do 9 wiersza 6 rozdziału:

„Starajcie się więc czynić tak, jak rozkazał wam Pan, wasz Bóg. Nie zbaczajcie ani w prawo, ani w lewo. Idźcie dokładnie drogą jaką wam nakazał Pan, wasz Bóg, abyście zachowali życie, aby się wam dobrze powodziło i abyście długo żyli w ziemi, którą posiądziecie!

A to są przykazania, ustawy i prawa, których Pan, wasz Bóg nakazał was uczyć, abyście je pełnili w ziemi, do której się przeprawicie, aby ją posiąść. Abyś był przejęty czcią dla Pana Boga twego, przestrzegając po wszystkie dni twego życia wszystkich jego ustaw i przykazań, które ja dziś nakazuję tobie, twoim synom i wnukom, i abyś żył długo.

Słuchaj ich Izraelu i starannie je wykonuj, aby dobrze ci się powodziło i abyście się rozmnożyli bardzo w ziemi opływającej w mleko i miód, jak ci przyrzekł Pan, Bóg twoich ojców.

Słuchaj Izraelu! Pan jest Bogiem naszym, Pan jedynie!

Będziesz tedy miłował Pana Boga swego z całego serca swego i z całej duszy swojej i z całej siły swojej. Niechaj słowa te, które Ja ci dziś nakazuję, będą w twoim sercu.

Będziesz je wpajał w twoich synów i będziesz o nich mówił, przebywając w twoim domu, idąc drogą, kładąc się i wstając. Przywiążesz je jako znak do twojej reki i będą jako przepaska między twoimi oczyma. Wypiszesz je też na odrzwiach twojego domu i na twoich bramach.”

Będziesz tak właśnie żył, przejęty czcią dla Boga. To jest dopiero, prawdziwe i widoczne pojmowanie, kim jest Bóg, gdy serce moje jest otwarte na to dobre prawo, które będzie mnie błogosławić, będzie dawało wzrost, rozwijając dla Jego chwały. Ale jeśli nie będę Go miłował całym sercem swoim, wtedy pójdę za innym prawem. Tak? Tak zawsze jest. Jeśli ktoś nie miłuje swojej żony czy męża idzie za innym prawem i idzie już w straszne rzeczy.[u21] 

Chciałbym wam teraz coś pokazać. Otwórzmy 5 Księgę Mojżeszową, 17, 14-20:

Ustanowisz nad sobą króla spośród twoich braci. Nie możesz ustanowić nad sobą męża obcego, który nie jest twoim bratem. Tylko niech nie trzyma sobie wiele koni i niech nie prowadzi ludu z powrotem do Egiptu, aby mnożyć sobie konie, gdyż Pan powiedział do was: Nie wracajcie już nigdy na tę drogę. Niech też nie bierze sobie wiele żon, aby nie odstąpiło jego serce. Także srebra i złota niech wiele nie gromadzi.

A gdy zasiądzie na swoim królewskim tronie, niech sporządzi sobie na zwoju odpis tego Prawa od kapłanów, Lewitów. I będzie go miał u siebie i będzie go czytał przez wszystkie dni swego życia, aby nauczyć się bojaźni Pańskiej, przestrzegania wszystkich słów tego Prawa i spełniania tych wszystkich przepisów, aby serce jego nie wyniosło się ponad jego braci i aby nie odstąpił od przykazania ani w prawo, ani w lewo, aby był długo królem w Izraelu, on i jego synowie.”

„A gdy się Samuel zestarzał, ustanowił swoich synów sędziami nad Izraelem. Starszemu jego synowi było na imię Joel, młodszemu zaś Abiasz. Byli oni sędziami w Beer-Szebie. Lecz jego synowie nie chodzili jego drogami, gonili raczej za zyskiem, brali datki i naginali prawo.

Zebrali się tedy wszyscy starsi izraelscy, przyszli do Samuela, do Ramy i rzekli do niego: Oto zestarzałeś się, a twoi synowie nie chodzą twoimi drogami, ustanów więc nad nami króla, aby nas sądził, jak to jest u wszystkich ludów.

Ale Samuelowi nie podobało się to, że mówili: daj nam króla, aby nas sądził. I modlił się Samuel do Pana.”

No, przecież Samuel znał Mojżesza, tak? Znał. Dlaczego nie podobało mu się to, co było napisane u Mojżesza - Jak tylko postanowisz sobie obrać króla, to uczyń to co postanowisz? Dlaczego coś takiego nie podobało się Samuelowi? Bo on znał Boga, tak? Zawsze to, co było dane ludziom przez wywieraną, przez nich, na Boga presję, nie będzie podobało się posłusznemu Bogu dziecku Bożemu, bo ono zna Boga.[u23] 

Dalej, 1 Sam. 8, 7:

„A Pan rzekł do Samula: Wysłuchaj głosu ludu we wszystkim, co mówią do ciebie, gdyż nie tobą wzgardzili, lecz Mną wzgardzili, bym nie był królem nad nimi.”

Widzicie? To prawo było dane z powodu ich zatwardziałego serca. Oni wzgardzili Bogiem. Mając tak potężnego Władcę, oni zapragnęli mieć ludzkiego, rozumiecie? Widzicie teraz to serce Boga? Jak On dawał to prawo, to nie było ze szczęśliwego Bożego serca, tylko było to prawo dla zatwardziałego człowieka, który już oddalił się od Boga i jego oczy straciły wejrzenie u góry, a zaczęły widzieć coraz więcej na ziemi. Ani prorokowi nie podobało się to, ani Bogu. Ale gdy czytasz tę Biblię, mówisz: przecież tu jest napisane „mogli”. No skoro mogli, to dlaczego teraz prorok jest niechętny i Bóg mówi o tym, że oni Nim wzgardzili? Bo oni z powodu zatwardziałego serca nie zwracali już uwagi na Boga, lecz na siebie.

Dalej, 1 Sam. 8, 8-9:

„Zgodnie ze swoimi postępkami, jak postępowali ze mną od dnia, gdy wyprowadziłem ich z Egiptu, aż do dnia dzisiejszego, porzucając Mnie, aby służyć innym bogom, tak postępują oni również z tobą. Otóż teraz usłuchaj ich głosu. Ostrzeż ich jednak uroczyście i podaj im do wiadomości uprawnienia króla, który będzie nad nimi królował”.

I wtedy Samuel podał im te uprawnienia króla, ale Bogu wcale to nie było miłe, wcale.

A więc czytamy coś w Księdze Mojżesza, w Prawie Mojżeszowym, i dowiadujemy się: Bóg dał to prawo Izraelowi z powodu zatwardziałości serca. Rozumiecie teraz? Bóg jest Królem i jeśli ty pragniesz mieć ludzkiego króla, dlatego, że inni mają króla, to sobie idź i weź. Ale ty musisz znać swego Boga i wiedzieć, czy to się Bogu podoba, czy też nie.

Czy będziecie teraz uważniej czytać Biblię, przez to, co dzisiaj mówimy? Mam nadzieję, że tak, zwracając uwagę na Boga podczas czytania. Kiedy czytasz Słowo Boże, nie miej nosa tylko w Biblii, zajrzyj do góry, popatrz na Boga i dalej czytaj Biblię. Korzystaj z tego, że Słowo Boże o Nim mówi. Nie próbuj rozmyślać tylko literalnie i wprowadzać tu swoje własne pomysły. Patrz na Boga i czytaj Biblię. A więc widzimy to. W pierwszej Księdze Samuela, w dwunastym rozdziale, od dwunastego wiersza do dziewiętnastego:

„A potem widząc, że Nachasz, król Amonitów wyruszył przeciwko wam, rzekliście do mnie: Nie tak, ale król niech panuje nad nami, a przecież Pan, Bóg wasz jest waszym królem. Więc oto macie króla, którego sobie obraliście, jakiego pragnęliście. Oto Pan dał wam króla nad wami. Jeżeli Pana bać się będziecie i Jemu służyć i Jego głosu słuchać, a nie będziecie sprzeciwiać się słowu Pana, i zarówno wy, jak i wasz król, który nad wami panuje, za nim pójdziecie, to dobrze!

Ale jeżeli nie będziecie słuchać głosu Pana i będziecie sprzeciwiać się słowu Pana, ręka Pana będzie przeciwko wam i przeciwko królowi waszemu, aby was zgubić.

Teraz zaś przystąpcie i zobaczcie te wielką rzecz, którą Pan na waszych oczach uczyni. Czy nie mamy obecnie żniwa pszenicznego? Lecz ja wzywać będę Pana i spuści grzmoty i deszcz. Wtedy poznacie i zobaczycie, jak wielkie zło popełniliście w oczach Pana, domagając się króla.

I wołał Samuel do Pana, a Pan spuścił w tym dniu grzmoty i deszcz; i cały lud bał się bardzo Pana i Samuela.

Rzekł więc cały lud do Samuela: Módl się za swymi sługami do Pana, Boga swego, abyśmy nie pomarli, gdyż do wszystkich naszych grzechów dodaliśmy jeszcze to zło, że chcieliśmy mieć króla.” (1 Sam. 12, 12-19).

Ale zobaczcie jakie jest serce Boga, nadal jest szansa, mimo takiego obrzydliwego postępowania, 1 Samul. 12, 20-25:

„I odpowiedział Samuel ludowi: Nie bójcie się. Wprawdzie popełniliście wszystko to zło, lecz przynajmniej nie odstępujcie od Pana, a służcie Panu z całego swego serca. Nie odstępujcie od niego do nicości, które nie mogą pomóc, ani wyratować, gdyż są nicościami. Nie porzuci bowiem Pan Swego ludu przez wzgląd na wielkie imię Swoje, gdyż raczył uczynić was Swoim ludem. Również i ja daleki jestem od tego, aby zgrzeszyć przeciwko Panu, przez zaniechanie modlitwy za wami. Owszem uczyć was będę drogi dobrej i prawej. Tylko bójcie się Pana i służcie Mu wiernie z całego swego serca, widząc, jak wielkich rzeczy dokonał z wami. Jeżeli atoli będziecie źle postępować, to zginiecie zarówno wy, jak i wasz król.”

Wiecie, zaufać człowiekowi jest bardzo niebezpiecznie, a zaufać królowi, jeszcze niebezpieczniej. Przecież czytamy dzieje królów Izraela, jak ci królowie cały naród odprowadzali od Boga. Ile zła było tam czynione przez tych królów, ile bałwanów było sprowadzonych, a ile jeszcze łaski Bóg dawał ku upamiętaniu i porzuceniu tych rzeczy, prawda? Bóg pokazał im swoje serce przez to, że chociaż pozwolił na to co prowadziło ich ku zgubie, to oznajmił im zarazem Swój sposób uratowania ich. Jak cudowny jest Bóg. Wiecie, kto miał być królem według Bożego postanowienia? Tylko trzeba było na Niego [u24] poczekać. Tak? Chrystus Jezus. To był Król według Bożego serca całkowicie i dlatego tylko On zasiadł po prawicy Bożej na Jego Tronie. I na[u25] Niego trzeba było poczekać, bo od Boga przychodzi Ten, który przyszedł uratować nas i uczynić nas rodem królewskim, kapłaństwem świętym, ludem nabytym, abyśmy rozgłaszali Jego cudowne cnoty i mogli mówić o tym Królu: On jest doskonały, On nigdy nie odprowadzi od Boga, nigdy. [u26] To jest cudowny Król, Ten, który jest prawdziwym Królem, całkowitym.

Widzimy więc, że w Księgach Mojżesza było zapisane Słowo próby, którego ludzie podjęli się wykonania w sposób bardzo niemiły Bogu. [u27] Wiele jest takich miejsc w Biblii, które stawiają człowieka wobec Bożej próby serca (miłości) i nerek (czystości).

Otwórzmy 4. Księgę Mojżeszową, 22, 8-20. Będziemy czytać o pewnym człowieku, który otrzymał takie polecenie: „idź”, ale tam, gdzie poszedł czekała na niego śmierć, dlatego że był on zatwardziałego serca i był niechętny do tego, by w pełni posłuchać swego Boga. Zobaczcie, że do Bileama zostało posłane poselstwo, żeby przyszedł i przeklął Izraela. Kiedy dociera do niego to poselstwo, Bileam mówi do posłańców:

Spędźcie tu tę noc, a ja przekażę wam wyrocznię, zgodnie z tym, co powie do mnie Pan. I zatrzymali się książęta moabscy u Bileama. I przyszedł Bóg do Bileama i rzekł: Cóż to za ludzie są u ciebie? Bilem odpowiedział Bogu: Balak, syn Syppora, król moabski, przysłał mi wiadomość, że oto lud wyszedł z Egiptu i przykrył całą ziemię, więc przyjdź i przeklnij mi go, może wtedy zdołam go zwalczyć i wypędzić.

I rzekł Pan do Bileama: Nie idź z nimi i nie przeklinaj tego ludu, gdyż jest on błogosławiony.

Bileam wstał rano i rzekł do książąt Balaka: Idźcie do ziemi swojej, gdyż Pan nie pozwolił mi iść z wami.

Wstali tedy książęta moabscy, poszli do Balaka i rzekli: Bileam nie chciał pójść z nami. Wówczas Balak ponownie posłał książąt w większej jeszcze liczbie i znakomitszych niż tamci. Przybyli oni do Bileama i rzekli do niego: Tak mówi Balak, syn Syppora: Nie wzbraniaj się przyjść do mnie, gdyż uczczę cię bardzo i uczynię wszystko, co mi powiesz. Przyjdź tylko, proszę, i przeklnij mi ten lud.

Bilem odpowiedział sługom Balaka tymi słowy: Nawet, gdyby Balak dawał mi swój dom, pełen srebra i złota, to nie mógłbym przestąpić zakazu Pana, mojego Boga, ani w małym, ani w wielkim.

Lecz zatrzymajcie się tutaj także wy przez tę noc, a ja dowiem się, co Pan znowu do mnie powie.

I przyszedł Bóg do Bileama w nocy i rzekł do niego: Jeżeli mężowie ci przyszli, aby cię zaprosić, wstań i idź z nimi, lecz czyń tylko to, co Ja ci powiem.” (4 Moj. 22, 8-20).

Widzicie, hasło było dobre, ale w sercu było już co innego, tak? Już Bóg powiedział. To tak jak dziecko, które jest uparte i przychodzi do taty, aby coś uzyskać od niego, a tata powiedział: „nie”, a dziecko za chwilę ponownie przychodzi i mówi: „tata, a może byś mi pozwolił na to jednak?”. To znaczy, że dziecko nie przyjęło odpowiedzi, tak? Nie uznało, że ta odpowiedź jest tą, którą ma zastosować i próbuje dalej osiągnąć coś, co myśli, że powinno „tak” się wydarzyć. Serce jego nie było już szczere. I co usłyszał? „Idź z nimi”, Bóg powiedział teraz: „idź”. Czy Bóg zmienił zdanie? Nie, Bóg nie zmienił zdania, nadal było: „nie idź”, ale jeśli jesteś tak zatwardziały i masz taką ochotę, to idź. I co stało się później, kiedy anioł stanął na drodze tego proroka, kiedy on już poszedł za tym słowem: „idź”? Myślę, że każdy z nas był zdziwiony, kiedy to czytał. „I rzekł do niego anioł Pański: Dlaczego zbiłeś już trzy razy swoją oślicę? Przecież to Ja wyszedłem jako twój przeciwnik, gdyż droga twoja jest zgubna i wbrew Mojej woli.” (4 Moj. 22, 32).

Rozumiecie? „Idź”- padło już wbrew pierwszej woli Bożej i ta droga była już jaka? – zgubna. Czy stało się tak? Później ten prorok został zabity przez Izraela, ponieważ wbrew woli Boga poradził wrogom Izraela, jak można ten naród zwieść i odciągnąć ich od Boga. „Idź” – to już było na śmierć. Nie dyskutujmy z Bogiem. Jeśli usłyszeliśmy Boże prawo, to bądźmy pewni, że to prawo jest na zawsze. Kiedy nasze serce próbuje z Bogiem wchodzić w dyskusje i wyciągnąć z tego coś innego, to uważajmy, bo kiedy usłyszymy: „to zrób to”, to wtedy zastanówmy się. Bóg też powiedział, że jeśli[u28] prorok prorokował prawdę, ale później powie: „odwróćmy się od Boga”, wtedy Bóg próbuje twoje serce, czy pójdziesz za tym. Prorok powiedział, stało się, ale musimy znać Boga, by wiedzieć, czy teraz Bóg mówi nam ku życiu, czy nie. Czy te przykazania, które docierają, to są dla mnie błogosławieństwem, czy jeśli za nimi pójdę, to wejdę pod przekleństwo. Muszę zbadać swoje serce, jakie jest ono wobec Boga, muszę wiedzieć jakie są moje relacje z Bogiem. To jest bardzo ważna sprawa. Szczere serce, szczere działanie Boga, ze szczerym postępuje szczerze, a z nieszczerym, nieszczerze. Co siejesz, to i zbierzesz. Bóg jest zawsze prawdziwym. Trzeba szanować Boga, uznać Boga i przestać wchodzić w spory z Bogiem i próbować Boga przekonać: „no, pozwól mi trochę żyć jak ten świat, przecież nie będę gorszy, kiedy trochę pożyję jak świat”. Bóg może powiedzieć: „idź, zajmij się tym, zajmij się tamtym, skoro to jest dla ciebie ważniejsze ode Mnie, idź więc, ale wiedz, że to jest droga śmierci”. I patrzysz, a tu chrześcijanin jest tylko na zgromadzeniach, a poza tym nie ma go w ogóle z Bogiem. Co za prawo go teraz prowadzi, rozumiecie? Strach pomyśleć, ale to prawo, które teraz prowadzi tego człowieka, prowadzi go na zatracenie. Zwróćcie uwagę, że człowiek jest spokojny, wcale nie jest zaniepokojony. Jest przekonany, że jest dobrze. Spotkałem na swojej drodze cudzołożnika, który mówił: „teraz to ja jestem starszym zboru, teraz zbór kwitnie, całe serce w to wkładam, Bóg błogosławi”, bo teraz okazało się, że to wcale nie jest cudzołóstwo. Strach pomyśleć jak wygląda to błogosławieństwo dla ludzi, którym ten człowiek tak usługuje.

A więc widzimy, że droga proroka była zgubna. I jeszcze może takie dwa miejsca z Biblii, jedno z Księgi Izajasza, 28, 5-6:

„W owym dniu będzie Pan Zastępów ozdobną koroną i wspaniałym diademem dla resztki Swojego ludu i natchnieniem dla siedzących na stolicy sędziowskiej i mocą bohaterską dla tych, którzy odpierają atak pod bramą”.

Dla tych ludzi. Czytajmy dalej, wiersze 7-16:

„Ale i ci chwieją się od wina i zataczają się od mocnego napoju; kapłan i prorok chwieją się od mocnego napoju, są zmożeni winem, zataczają się od mocnego napoju, chwieją się podczas prorokowania, zataczają się podczas wyrokowania. Bo wszystkie stoły, aż do ostatniego miejsca pełne są plugawych wymiocin.

Kogóż to chce uczyć poznania i komu tłumaczyć objawienie? Czy odwykłym od mleka, odstawionym od piersi? Bo paple przepis za przepisem, przepis za przepisem, nakaz za nakazem, nakaz za nakazem, trochę tu, trochę tam. Zaiste, przez jąkających się i mówiących obcym językiem przemówi do tego ludu ten, Który im rzekł: To jest odpoczynek, dajcie odpoczynek zmęczonemu, i to jest wytchnienie! Lecz nie chcieli słuchać. Dlatego dojdzie ich słowo Pana: Przepis za przepisem, przepis za przepisem, nakaz za nakazem, nakaz za nakazem, trochę tu, trochę tam – aby idąc padli na wznak i potłukli się, uwikłali się i zostali złapani. Dlatego słuchajcie słowa Pana, wy szydercy, panujący nad tym ludem, który jest w Jeruzalemie! Ponieważ mówicie: Zawarliśmy przymierze ze śmiercią i z krainą umarłych mamy umowę, więc gdy nadejdzie klęska potopu, nie dosięgnie nas, gdyż kłamstwo uczyniliśmy naszym schronieniem i ukryliśmy się pod fałszem, Dlatego tak mówi Wszechmocny Pan: Oto Ja kładę na Syjonie kamień, kamień wypróbowany, kosztowny kamień węgielny, mocno ugruntowany; Kto wierzy, ten się nie zachwieje”.

Tak to właśnie wygląda, rozumiecie? Zaczynają docierać do ludzi dziwne prawa; prawa do samowoli, prawa do lekkomyślności, do egoizmu. Słyszycie te prawa, jak one rozbrzmiewają w kościele? „Możesz żyć dla samego siebie, jesteś zbawiony, możesz zajmować się sobą, jesteś uratowany, masz zawarte przymierze ze śmiercią, idziesz na wieczność do Boga. Nie musisz już tego, czy tamtego robić”. I to od Boga przychodzi. Jakie nieszczęście. Ale Bóg nie daje tego ludziom, którzy chcą walczyć, prawda? Jest napisane wcześniej: ”W owym dniu będzie Pan Zastępów ozdobną koroną i wspaniałym diademem dla resztki Swojego ludu i natchnieniem dla siedzącego na stolicy sędziowskiej”. On będzie wyrokował od Boga, sprawiedliwie. „I mocą bohaterską dla tych, którzy odpierają atak pod bramą.” I nie puszczają diabła, żeby nauczał lud jak żyć. Cudownie, Bóg jest odwagą dla tych ludzi, żeby odważnie mogli mówić prawdę, tym, których serce otępiało i odwróciło się od Boga. Po to, żeby zachęcić ich do powrotu do Boga, żeby człowiek się uniżył i powiedział: „Boże odszedłem, ale pomóż mi wrócić, daj mi siłę Panie wrócić, daj mi znowu pokochać Twoje piękne prawo Chrystusowe, prawo miłości, czystości, świętości, nieskalaności. Pokochać Twoje prawo, by nie było mi obciążeniem, ale radością mego serca, Boże, gdyż dzisiaj żyję pod dziwnymi prawami”.

Jeszcze takie ostatnie miejsce z drugiego Listu do Tesaloniczan, 2, 7-12:

„Albowiem tajemna moc nieprawości już działa, tajemna dopóty, dopóki ten, który teraz powstrzymuje, nie zejdzie z pola. A wtedy objawi się ów niegodziwiec, którego Pan Jezus zabije tchnieniem ust Swoich i zniweczy blaskiem przyjścia Swego. A ów niegodziwiec przyjdzie za sprawą szatana z wszelką mocą, wśród znaków i rzekomych cudów. I wśród wszelkich podstępnych oszustw wobec tych, którzy mają zginąć, ponieważ nie przyjęli miłości prawdy, która mogła ich zbawić. I dlatego zsyła Bóg na nich ostry obłęd, tak iż wierzą kłamstwu, Aby zostali osądzeni wszyscy, którzy nie uwierzyli prawdzie, lecz znaleźli upodobanie w nieprawości”.

Widzicie, bez miłości prawdy, grozi wiara w kłamstwo. Czytamy dalej wiersze 13-17:

„My jednak powinniśmy dziękować Bogu zawsze za was, bracia, umiłowani przez Pana, że Bóg wybrał was od początku ku zbawieniu przez Ducha, który uświęca, i przez wiarę w prawdę. Do tego też powołał was przez ewangelię, którą głosimy, abyście dostąpili chwały Pana naszego, Jezusa Chrystusa. Przeto bracia, trwajcie niewzruszenie i trzymajcie się przekazanej nauki, której nauczyliście się czy to przez mowę, czy przez list nasz. A sam Pan nasz Jezus Chrystus i Bóg, Ojciec nasz, który umiłował i dał pocieszenie wieczne, i dobrą nadzieję z łaski, Niech pocieszy serca wasze i utwierdzi was we wszelkim dobrym uczynku i w dobrym słowie”.

HARDNESS OF HEART

It is happiness, that we can follow someone, cause if He wouldn’t exist, who would we follow?  Would we go after me, maybe after some other man? And where man can lead? There is just One, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. For us people, there is no other way. If we already know that, it is easier to take decisions, isn’t it? If the liar will not last on that way, so what we have to do to last on it? Should we make up some gentler lies, more likely lies, or should we stop lying?

The Word of God says that this way is saint, transgressors shall fall therein. So we can see, that if we want to come back on that Way, which is Jesus Christ, we have to beware of wickedness, cause if we will do wicked things, than even if we would cast out demons, heal people and make wonderful miracles, Jesus will say unto us “I don’t know you”.  Following this way we have to learn that we cannot neither recklessly treat Jesus nor recklessly treat the fact that He paid for our sins on the cross. We have to realize that this payment cost Him much and our duty is learn to draw from it, not to frolic ourselves but to do what pleases God. If we drink and eat just because the flesh still wants to sin more, than we go to the place, where payment for sin is second death, so eternity without God. But if we eat and drink to praise the Christ and serve Him, than we will be there where He is. Jesus said: “where I am, there shall also my servant be”. Our trial is to know that our God Almighty is concrete,  real and true God.

We thank God also today, for his grace, that we can be in his presence to know Him as He wants us to know Him. We realize that to hear God we need to have clean ears. If now, I would plug your ears and talk to you, then what? You would look at me but not hear me. If a man has so “plugged” ears to the Word of God, then what happens to him? He listens, but cannot hear. Through these “plugs” the Word cannot get inside, and if it cannot get to the ears, than it also cannot get to the heart. So, that there were no plugs in our physical ears, we just wash them. You have to remember about these spiritual ears too, they also need to be washed to hear. We have to remember that when we go to the congregation we need to keep our ears open to hear, so we need take care of spiritual ears. What hinders spiritual ears from listening? Sin. When we come to the house of God, we must remember that we can enter there just through the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses us from all sin. The utmost necessity for the one who has ears is the ability to listen and to respond to what God says.

We want to speak today about God, whosometimes may not know be known like this by  someone. We will talk about God as much, as we experience, because our Lord said that knowing God and His Son Jesus Christ is an eternal life. It is so important to know Him and to know what He is like. Many people having a problem with the Word of God, begin to figure out how to interpret that Word, which is written in the Bible, while the true interpretation of the Word can just come from the One who has uttered that Word, because He knows what he wanted to say, when He speaks to you and to me.

Today we would like to show what God says about Himself, this make us reflect and think on the fact, that we have experience, when we approach to God, and we have to learn how to use this experience.

In Hebrews 13:4 it is written:

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

And now we have to be sure of that what God has said to me and to you.  “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled”, it means thatwhen God allows a man and a woman to become a marriage,  he also indicated that this marriage should be undefiled and that it should be honourable in all, that nobody would enter into this marriage, for God will judge adulterers, it means people, men or women who come between spouses and pull one of them out, that they sleep with them on their beds, to have sex with them, not only with their legitimate spouses. God will judge each of these people, as these who violated boundaries set by Him, invaded the area they were forbidden, and there they began the activity that they were not allowed to carry out; about that is talking God and He keeps it.

When we open the gospel of Mathew, 19, 3-6 we read:

“The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

What could we understand from that what Jesus said? He proclaim a discharge of God`s desire, when He decided that man and woman would become a marriage. These people came to tempt the Lord Jesus Christ and Lord Jesus answered them what is the will of the Father in this matter, as well as His. And they told Him: “Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? (Mat. 19,7)

Why did Moses allowed them do this? What is the answer of Jesus Christ? Let`s listen to it very carefully:

“Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts”.

Is that? Because of what? For hardness! It was not a commandment for holy people. And for what? For hardened.  What commandments can hardened people get? From a happy God`s heart or from an angry God`s heart? From what heart did this commandment come from, that God allowed Moses to give it to this hardened people?  “You want to go, than go, you want to die, than die, you want to lose My way, than lose  - due to your hardness, due to your dislike of My commandment which I said: Marriage is honourable in all. And if I joined something, than nobody has a right to separate it.”

And what did they do? Did they took advantage of it? Was that for their lives? Did this permission from Moses was for their lives? Did they live better with God and because of this, they were sanctified, or rather their lives visibly began to show internal contamination?

Is it not, that when a man`s sinful heart will hear “do what you want”, it will take an advantage of this permission; moreover if the legislator said it?  So, if you want to argue with someone and you hear: if you prefer more that than love your neighbor, then do what you want. Then why shouldn`t I argue? I have a good cause, someone hurt me. But the Son of God said: “Forgive. And if you don`t want to forgive, if you are so hardened to My law and you want to argue, than go to the court, fight for your rights, but `I will not go there with you”.

Do you understand? Holy commandments come from God, for holy people, but also are coming such  commandments which are not holy, for people who want to pretend that they live with God. And Moses allowed these people what they wanted because of the hardness of their hearts, but it was not a blessing. If God agrees to anything due to hardened heart, there is no blessing.

It does not mean that a man has to die now. There is a chance that he will repent, turn away from it, come to God and apologize Him, that he followed that which God did not like, but if he doesn`t come back, it will lead him to death. Do you know God, who would let you go to death, if you really want it? And you will hear from some prophets: “go”. But then God will examine your heart, if you will use the possibility that you can go to sin or you will say: “No, God never wanted me to sin, there is certainly no blessing. If that goes against His love, He can`t bless it. I will not go there.”   God examines the heart of each of us, whether we will take advantage of facilitation and then it turns out, whether you or I really want to be with God or whether we will take in a jiff advantage of it, saying: “Well, if it is possible, I like it.”

So it was given because of hardness of heart, neither because of wanting to serve God, nor desire to humble before Him, not because of wanting that God would be even more glorified. Simply, those people just walked with sin in their hearts and had a big snag because God`s law forbade them to do what they wanted. They were probably very happy with what they received through Moses, but this did not bring them blessing.

“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.” (Mat. 19,9)

And see how today people use this exception: because of fornication, you can already take another one. Is it really allowed? Did Jesus said exactly that what they want to understand? It is not important for them, because they already have their “sinful” interpretation: it became possible, look, and Jesus himself, said it. But when we look at God and people according to God`s heart, we will see that none of them used that, as today people use it, who want to follow the path of the flesh and not the Spirit.

“His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.” (Mat.19,10)
They understood that it is the matter forever, without the relief for sin, without the possibility of seeking human solution.

We`ve talked about it before. How did they made themselves eunuchs? Just like the apostle Paul. He could have a wife. But he did not take one because he made himself eunuch for the kingdom of heaven`s sake, to be always ready to go to the place where Jesus would like to send him. Who else were celibate by people? Those, who were betrayed by their spouses. They were celibate by people, but they still live for God, in the purity of the heart. There are also those who, after being born, are already eunuchs from their nature.

So we can see here, that the Lord Jesus is showing a very important matter, that I would like us today to consider and think about. Always listen very carefully to God. Do you remember this  Jesus` parable of prodigal son? Who among you has the courage to say that the prodigal son was right, when he wanted half of property from his father? Who among you may say, that he was right? We all can say that: he was wrong, because we know where it led him to, right? We could also say: so why did the father do what his son wanted? Because of his hard heart. His father gave him half of the property, and he took it, went and wasted it.

If you or I will have a hardened heart, than one day we can get something that will makes us go to ruin rather than to salvation.

If we will be stubborn enough to disregard God’s commandments and want Him to change them, one day they may reach us like that and we will follow them. Can we play with God, or can we recklessly disregard God and His commandments and tell yourself: I’m safe? We will read about it from God’s Word, so that it would be obvious and clear to us, because the whole Bible is full of it.

The word “hardness” in Greek is “sclerocardia”, other words: sclerosis of the heart. The heart has forgotten God. Otherwise, it has already forgotten what is pleasing God, and a sin against Him has occurred there. This means further, hardening of the heart, roughness of the heart, insensitivity, hardness, stubbornness, do you understand? This word means exactly that, and for such heart God gives permission. Jesus says, regarding that: “Because of such a heart you got permission to do it.”, do you understand it? It can’t be a blessing. Blessing and  the curse comes from God. Since you have such a  hardened heart, I can do nothing but let you go there, where you want to go, to let you see what will happen. The prodigal son came to his senses, looked into himself and said: “I will come back to my father”, and father received him. Grace! Thank God that there is still grace and it is possible today to come back from such a place, repent and say: “Father, I am not longer worthy to be called your son, make me like one of your hired servants”. This is humility, this is humbleness, this is the awareness of how hard my heart was to the Father. It is not that I have lost, and my Father is so rich that he can give me such a treasure thirty million more times and I can lose it thirty million more times. Yes, Heavenly Father is truly rich, but this wealth is used for His glory.  

So we see, that the right to send the wives away was given to such a heart. Do not delude ourselves that such a thing was pleasing God.

It was a necessity, because this people was already so far from God, so reluctant to His commandments, that God was only allowed to let them go where their heart was drawn. And at one moment , a man of God said, “Did we not suffer because of this?” So this is the point that Jesus shows very clearly. Stupid is today a man who believes that Jesus agrees that something that God has joined would be broken by man. And that this man would connect with another man. It means that this man has already a hard heart and believes in god who is not the God of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, but the devil, because the devil likes adulterers, and God says that adulterers will not enter His eternity.

I want to talk to you about the true, living and effective God, but also one who can let a man to leave where he wants. He won’t hold on. If you would harden and harden, more and more reluctant to the Lord’s commandments, then one day you will follow other commandments that will lead you to a terrible place.

Let us open a letter to the Hebrews, 3:15-19. Let’s hear about these people and see what led them to death.

“While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

“Do not harden your hearts” – says the Word of God to me and to you. Let us not harden our hearts against God, let us not follow the lust of the flesh, let us not follow the stupid advices of those who do not know God, but let us respect Him and His will in our lives, as Lord Jesus said:

”For whosoever shall do the will of my Father, the same is my mother, sister, brother, family now and forever.” So let’s see, and it is very important that we see it, why did they get lost? Because they disobeyed God’s law. Their hearts hardened and became reluctant to Him. They murmured, complained, constantly had trouble, were reluctant to go on as He wanted, and began to rebel against Him. “Give us this, give us that”. So He gave them that, right? Did He gave them meat? Later, after the meat, what came? The punishment has come. Did God like to give them meat under their pressure? Someone may think: He must have liked it if gave it to them. People say: get God by force. Where is it written?

Luke 16:16 “The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”

A hardened heart suggest: “let’s get God by force”. But in verses 17 and 18 we read the expansion of verse 16: “And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.” With what heartdo we read God’s Word today? Hardened by the flesh or softened by the Spirit. Softened heart (the heart of flesh) suggest: only humble and lowly, subjected and submissive to God in Jesus Christ, God brings in, to His kingdom. Not one title or one letter will pass from the law, said Lord Jesus.

So let’s see how important it is to respect God’s law, learn that law and try to do what God says. So that our heart would not harden, that one day it would not become eager for other commandments that would give the chance to the flesh, and not to the Spirit. It is before our eyes that many believers begin to find satisfaction in the body, not in the Spirit. So what kind of law is beginning to rule them? Who did it come from? God’s Word says that God decides about everything. We know that good comes from God. But only good? Is evil also? Both good and evil. Nothing can happen without His knowledge. How did it happen that people began to find pleasure in this evil? Because their hearts hardened so much, that good ceased to be valuable to them. And then God made the law come to them that allowed them to follow what they wanted. So we see that because of the heart’s hardness something like that, came to these people. You have to be careful with God, you really have to be careful. We are too reckless, coming to God. We were taught that God is a “good uncle” who always has a smile for us. This is a terrible thing. God is the Creator of heaven and earth. He has the power to keep or to lose. The same God.

Let’s open the book of Ezekiel, 20:15-25. Listen very carefully: “Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.”

I, the Lord, I am your God. Follow my commandments and obey my laws! Keep my sabbaths and let them be a sign between me and you, let them know that I, the Lord, am Your God! “Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;” Ezek. 20: 21-25

God gave these commandments through Moses. Amen. Because they hardened in their heart and became cold to His law, they implemented their laws, that infected God’s people. And then God also gave them His laws, that give no life. The Lord Jesus said: because of your heart hardness God gave it to Moses. 

Does today’s man understand what Jesus said and will not follow the sin of his own flesh, to find a fraction of a word, do you understand? Between the text, something that will allow his flesh to get what he wants. People were looking for something between Jesus’ words, that would allow them to follow their flesh.  As well as in Paul’s preaching, they sought where a word would be spoken, that would allow them to “keep” God’s law and also to follow their flesh. And what will such a man hear? “Go, you understood what you wanted, now go.” And a man will go.

Many people have accepted the preaching of the apostle Paul, that if he speaks of grace, it means let us sin even more, let more grace be shown. Why did they come to such an opinion based on Paul’s words? Because their hearts were turned back to God, and their face was turned into sin. And when they heard “grace”, they thought it would be safe to sin now, do you understand? And they did nor understand that grace leads to repentance, oh no, they were not very ready to acknowledge that. But that grace let them sin, yes. They liked that the apostle Paul said this,  because they interpreted it themselves.. It is about them apostle Paul wrote: “People not willing to learn”, hardeners, uses the Word of God for wretched purposes, for their own destruction, and God gave it to sanctification, that they would live and not die forever. Every Word of God, when comes to us through God’s Son, Jesus Christ, is telling us about God’s love and leading to repentance and turning away from evil deeds. If you want to be in Christianity and you don’t want to do it, one day you will start to do something completely different. We will fulfill other laws, laws that gives no life.

Let’s open the book of Malachi 2, 13-16 and you will see that you will be deeply moved by what we read now:

“And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts.”

Covereth violence with his garment! Do you understand? God says so. Is He changing? If other law was given, then only for those who have a hard heart, unwilling to God – “if you want, than do it, but it will not give you life.” Then why Moses allowed to put wives away, when God said that they would defile their garments, if they put them away? They were already defiled in their hearts, that is why they received a law that gives no life. Do you understand? Reading the Old Testament, remember that there are written down some laws that do not give life, and they came from God, but God’s children have no heart in it. Do you know which these are? To know which ones they are, you need to know God, right? Not thinking fleslhy: oh, it is written, so I can do it, but you need to know God and know that the whole Bible shows us the reality of God and people, who were with God or against God. And this is the lesson for me and for you, so that we don’t accidentally go astray. 

I will read you about some other laws that have beenwritten down in the Books of Moses, but when God gave this law, there was no happiness in His heart. He gave it because these people were so hard. So, if Jesus said that it wasn’t like that from the beginning, it means it never was like that and won’t be. Amen. If God said something, it means “amen” and it’s over. The Word is eternal and no one has a right to change it. Only fools think that they can stand on a par with God and change what He said, and feels better than God. 

When we read Malachi, we read it clearly: those who divorced their wives, defiled their  robes. So how could they calmly stand before God at this moment?

“For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.” (Mal. 2,16)

This covering of the robe with violence, it is a Hebrew word “hamas”, it means rape, unrighteousness, plunder, lawlessness, predation, harm, cruelty, falsehood – this is what covers the robe of man who divorce his wife. So you see that God never liked it. Never. Do not believe that God has changed and now He is agreeing to  such a thing. If the Lord said, “except”, He did not at all said “sinners, be happy, you have this gate, so you can safely satisfy your desires.” Not at all. An exception for a hardened heart means a possibility of taking another one, but … is that so? The exception, today for people means, that it is possible to take another wife, another husband, but Jesus did not speak about it at all. Generally there was no second relationship mentioned, there was just divorce mentioned. Why overinterpretation? Because the heart needs it, the lustful old heart needs to hear what it wants. Well, than it has it, it has it exactly.

Maybe let’s  look at the moment, at the second Book of Samuel, chapter three, from the twelfth verse. Look at the man according to God’s heart, look at David , pay attention to what he does, then you will see God even more.

“Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to David, saying, “Whose is the land?” saying also, “Make your covenant with me, and indeed my hand shall be with you to bring all Israel to you.And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.” (II Sam. 3,12-13)

What’s up with David? After all, he has other wives besides this woman. Why does he need this woman? She is there with another man, who later, when she is taken away from him, goes crying for her. What did David mean? He was according to God’s heart, she was his wife, and the wife has to share the bed with her husband. Yes? Although Michal’s adultery, he brings her back and brings her to his home, right? How is the exception to God’s heart? And when we read about Israel and Judah, when God says to them as to His wife: :Adulter, come back, I will not reject you when you come to Me, confess only guilt, and I will accept you, I will cleanse you and we will have yet a beautiful fellowship together.” Yes? How do you see the exception? God divorced her, true, but not to take another one, but to make her ashamed. Yes? That is an exception, let her be embarrassed, decide to come back and be accepted back. You know, God’s heart is beautiful, pure, there is no pollution in Him. Even when He speaks some words, it is always a pure desire, pure intention. And this woman is brought to David. He could say: “It is written in Moses: Because of adultery she should rather be stoned than taken home.” And yet he takes her back because it is he is according to God’s heart. This is a beautiful exception, when you can keep working on your wife or on your husband, to save them. A beautiful exception, but a sinful heart makes an adulterous bed out of it, to sin under God’s blessing, and that is impossible. Impossible. 

Let’s open  psalm 50, 14-23:

“Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.”

If I am in God’s law because of a heart loving Him, then God will show me how to, right?  But if Iharden my heart and am reluctant to His commandments what will God tell me? “Go wherever you want, but beware, because it is a way of death not of life”. “I have set before you life and death, choose where you want to go.” And this is what is mine and yours responsibility. Choose where you want to go. As Elijah stood: do not waver between two opinions, decide who you will follow: God or Baal. Who is after God? That one who follows the One who gives the law, in which is purity, holiness, love, impeccability. Does the one who gives you law, allow you to sin, curse, lie, cheat, hang out with adulterers? Who do you want to follow? – says God. If you want to follow Me, cleanse yourself of everything, and if you want to follow your body, then do what you want. Do you know the God who doesn’t have to run after you, when you are walking middle of the street and want to kill yourself? And someone can say: where was God? Where was the man when God told him to listen?

So what if a man enumerates and enumerates God’s commandments if he doesn’t want to live according to them? Here is written like that, and there like that, but do we want to live like this, and are the Lord’s orders nice to us? Do we see in them the beauty of the Church, clothed with the beauty of the Christ? We see it. Lord’s commandments are beautiful, they are reliable, they make us clear. If we all would live by these laws, how different would the relationships between believers look like. But because of heart hardness, people reject God’s law, and are reluctant to live like that, and at this moment they follow another law, the law of destruction.  Because of that you can see all the destruction that is spreading throughout the church. This Is a law of destruction that could not reach us without God.

Let’s open fifth book of Moses, chapter fifth, from thirty second verse to ninth verse of chapter sixth:

“Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

You will live exactly like that, devoted to God. It is only true and visible understanding of that who God is when my heart is open to this good law, that will bless me, will give me growth, developing me for His glory. But if I won’t love Him with all my heart, then I will follow another law. Yes? So it is always. If someone does not love their wife or husband, than follows another law, and already goes into terrible things.

I would like to show you something now. Let’s open Book of Moses, 17:14-20:

“When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.”

Listen, is it possible without the love to God read the Bible and think: God allows us to choose a king, so we will choose him and we will be like other nations who already have their kings. God wants it. Is it?

Let’s open the first book of Samuel 8:1-6. This is God’s prophet, do you understand? He knows God. No word, that came through this prophet has fallen. And what do we read here?

“And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.”

Well, Samuel knew Moses, right? He knew. Why didn’t he like what Moses wrote – as soon as you decide to choose a king, do what you decide? Why didn’t Samuel like that? Because he knew God, right?  Always what has been given to people because of their pressure on God will not please God's obedient child because he knows God.Further, 1 Samuel 8:7:

“And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.”

You see? This law was given because of their hard heart. They despised God. With such a powerful Ruler, they wanted to have a human one, understand? Do you see this heart of God now? When He gave this law, it was not of God’s happy heart, but it was a law for a hardened man who had already moved away from God, his eyes lost their glance into above, and began to see more and more on earth. Neither the prophet nor God liked it. But when you read this Bible, you say: it says “they could”. Well, if they could, why is the prophet reluctant now and God is saying that they despised Him? Because they, due to  their hard heart, no longer paid attention to God, but to themselves. 

Further, 1 Samuel 8:8-9:

“According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.” And then Samuel gave them these king’s manners, but God was not pleased at all.

So we read something in the Book of Moses, the Mosaic Law, and we learn: God gave this right to Israel because of hardness of heart. Do you understand now? God is a King and if you want to have a human king because others have a king, go and get yourself. But you must know your God and know whether he likes it or not.

Will you read the Bible more carefully no, through what we are saying today? I hope so, paying attention to God while reading. When you read the Word of God, do not have a nose only in the Bible, look up, look at God  and continue reading the Bible. Take advantage of that God’s Word is speaking about Him. Don’t try to think only literally and put your own ideas here. Look at God and read the Bible. So we see it. In the first book of Samuel, in the twelfth chapter, from the twelfth verse to the nineteenth:

“And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God was your king.Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.” (1 Samuel 12:12-19)

But see what God’s heart is, there is still a chance, despite such disgusting behavior, 1 Samuel 12:20-25:

“And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.”

You know, trusting man is very dangerous and trusting the king is even more dangerous. After all we read the history of the kings of Israel, how these kings led the whole nation away from God. How much evil was done by these kings, how many idols were brought, and how much grace God gave for repentance and abandoning these things, right? God showed them His heart in that although He allowed them for that what led them to destruction, He also intimated them His way of saving them. How wonderful is God. Do you know who was to be a king according to God’s resolution? You just had to wait for Him. Yes? Christ Jesus. He was a King completely  according to God’s heart and therefore only He sat at God’s right hand on His Throne.  And they had to wait for Him, because from God comes the One who came to save us and make us royal race, holy priesthood, a people for his possession, so that we may proclaim His  wonderful praises and may speak about this King: He is perfect, He will never lead us away from God, never. This is the wonderful King, the one who is the real King, absolute.

So we see that in the Books of Moses the Word of trail was written, which people undertook to perform in a manner very unpleasant to God. There are many places like that, in the Bible, that place a man against God’s test o heart (love) and kidneys (purity).

Let’s open the fourth book of Moses, 22:8-20. We will read about a man who received such a command: “go”, but there where he went, death was waiting for him, because he was of a hardened heart and was reluctant to listen fully to his God. See that a message was sent to Balaam, to come and curse Israel. When this message reaches him, Balaam  says to the messengers:

“Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saithBalak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.Now therefore, please, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what more the LORD will say to me.”And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.” (4 Moses 22:8-20)

See, the motto was good, but there was something else in the heart, right? Gid has already said, It’s like a child who is stubborn and comes to the father to get something from him, and father said “no”, and the child in a moment comes again saying: “father, and maybe you would let me however?” That means the child didn’t accept the answer, right? He didn’t think that this answer was the one he was going to use, and he is still trying to achieve something that he thought should happen like “this”. His heart was no longer sincere. And what did he hear? “Go with tem” , God now said, “go”. Has God changed his mind? No, God didn’t change his mind, there was still: “don’t go”, but if you are so hardened and you feel like it, then go. And what happened later, when the angel stood in the path of this prophet, when he had already followed the word: “go”? I think each of us was surprised when we read this. “And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:” (4 Moses 22:32).

Do you understand? “Go” – it was already against God’s first will and this path was already what? – fatal. Did it happen? Later this prophet was killed by Israel because, against God’s will, he advised Israel’s enemies how to deceive this nation and draw them away from God.”Go” – it was already to death. Let’s no argue with God. If we heard God’s law, let’s be sure that this law is forever. When our heart tries to enter into discussions with God and draw something else out of it, then we should be careful, because when we hear: “do it”, then think about it. God also said that if the prophet would prophesy the truth, but later he would say: “let us turn away from God”, then God is trying your heart, if you will follow it. The prophet said something which happened, but we must know God, to know whether God is telling us now for life or not. Are these commandments that reach me, a blessing or if I follow them, I will come under the curse. I need to examine my heart, what it is in view to God, I need to know what my relationships with God are. This is a very important matter. A sincere heart, sincere action of God, that he behaves sincerely with sincere and with the insincere, insincerely. What you sow, you will reap. God is always true. You have to respect God, recognize Him and stop getting into arguments with God, trying ti convince Him: “well. Let me live a little like this world. I won’t be worse when I live a little like the world.” God can say: “Go, occupy this and that, since this is more important to you than Me, go, but know that this way is the way of death.” You look, and the Christian is only on assemblies, and besides them, he is not with God at all. What right is guiding him now, do you understand? It is fear to think, but the law that  now leads this man leads him to destruction. Please note that the man is calm and not disturbed at all. He is convinced that it is good. On my way I met an adulterer who said: “Now I’m the elder of the congregation, now the congregation is flourishing, I put my whole heart in it, God is blessing”, because now it turned out that it it is no adultery at all. It is fear to think how this blessing looks like for the people whom this man serves. 

So we see that the prophet’s path was pernicious. And maybe two such places from the Bible, one from the Book of Isaiah, 28:5-6:

“In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.”

For these people. Let’s read further, verses 7-16:

“But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.”

This is what it looks like, do you understand? Strange laws are beginning to reach people; the laws to arbitrariness, the laws to recklessness, to selfishness. Do you hear these laws, how do they sound in the church? “You can live for yourself, you are saved, you can take care of yourself, you are saved, you have a covenant with death, you are going to God for eternity. You don’t have to do this or that anymore.” And it comes from God. What misfortune. But God doesn’t give it to people who want to fight, right? It is written earlier: “In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment”. He will judge from God justly. “and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.” And they don’t let devil teach people how to live. Wonderful, God is courage for these people so that they can boldly tell the truth to those whose heart has become numb and turned away from God. In order to encourage them to come back to God, that a man humble himself and say: “God, I leaved, but help me to come back, Lord, give me strength to come back, let me love again Your beautiful Christ’s law, the law of love, purity, holiness and immodesty. To love Your law, that it may not be a burden but a joy to my heart, God, because today I live under strange laws.”

Yet such a last place from the Second Letter to the Thessalonians, 2:7-12:

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

You see, without the love of truth, there is a danger of believing a lie. We further verses 13-17:

“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.”
